A couple of DMAD students got the chance to work with ESPN and ABC for ‘Battle at Bristol,’ the long awaited gridiron match-up between Virginia Tech and University of Tennessee.
Senior, Quenton Lyons was able to land a unique opportunity through Finley Green, Director of Career Services here at King. The experience allowed Lyons to expand his skill set as a grip as well as give him experience working with SkyCam equipment. In reflection of the opportunity, Lyons says, “The connections with the guys I worked with are leading me to make decisions toward my future career easier.” Quenton is working towards his graduation in December and will be holding a senior thesis exhibition of his video documentary work on November 28th, on campus in the Fine Arts Building.
Senior, Samantha Taylor also joined the ESPN team as a Production Assistant. Taylor worked closely with reporter Dr. Jerry Punch on the sidelines of the biggest college football game ever. “It was amazing being a part of such a fast paced team. It really showed you how you need to be on the ball at all times,” says Taylor. Her responsibilities included set up, handling lighting equipment, and running for supplies. Samantha is set to graduate Spring 2017 and has recently completed an incredible internship in New York City (more to come on that).
